First Contact In the expansive galaxy, you're not on your own! While there are many fascinating discoveries to be made, you'll also come across alien empires that you may not be prepared to face. The new addition, First Contact, provides players with various origins and mechanics, enabling them to narrate stories of their civilizations' initial interactions with extraterrestrial beings - which may not have always been amicable! Start a new space imperium Stellaris: First Contact Story Pack introduces three new origins for players to start their own space empires. "Broken Shackles" origin begins with players as alien captives who have taken over the ship and formed a new community to survive and thrive. "Payback" origin depicts a scenario where a civilization has repelled an alien invasion and acquired their advanced technology to explore the vast expanse of the universe. "Fear of the Dark" origin explores the fear of the unknown and the dilemma of choosing between staying in the comfort zone or venturing into the dark abyss of the galaxy to find new opportunities for growth. Interaction with pre-FTL civilizations When encountering a new member of the galactic community, what will be your position in their origin story? Using new mechanics, you can interact with pre-FTL civilizations in a variety of ways based on their technological advancements and knowledge of your presence. Will your appearance be welcomed and celebrated, or will it provoke a fearful and violent response? New technology - cloaking You can now install cloaking devices on your ships, which will allow you to conduct secret surveys or ambush unsuspecting enemies. You can also use cloaked observation posts to keep a discreet watch on your pre-FTL neighbors. However, it's important to make sure your own scanners and intelligence are top-notch, as there's always a chance that one of your neighbors may be hiding in the shadows!
